Mastering Your Bridal Trial: Key Elements You Need to Know

The trial is one of the most important parts of our process with you! It’s the time we get to connect and collaborate. We have the time to understand your vision, and start creating the look you’ve been dreaming of.  A seamless, stress-free wedding morning starts with the work we do in advance — and the trial lays the foundation for that.

We suggest setting aside 2-2.5 hours for this appointment.

We don't want to rush the process, having you fully present for the appointment helps us get to know you. If you are rushing to get to your shower or another event you may not get the most out of the trial.

At the studio we have everything we need to bring your vision to life. Extensions, hair pieces, veils - you name it.

Let's break it down...

Extensions: Using extensions will elevate any style. If you are looking for glam waves, these are a must. If you are looking to add a wow factor to a natural style, this is what you need. There are so many uses for extensions, there are many times I will use them for short styles to just add some fullness. Most people hear extensions and they immediately think long fake hair...

which, I guess theyre not wrong but theyre customizable! I've used them on super short hair to super long - this is where communication with your stylist is HUGE. We will lead you in the right direction to the hair you will need for the day.

Hair Pieces: PLEASE don't choose a hair piece until you have a style selected. Okay, okay... you can get it first if you absolutely fallll in love but you run the risk of being stuck to one look. I can't tell you the amount of times I have had to cut pieces or just not use them because they bought a piece but hated what it did with the style they wanted.

it hurts my heart when this happens because some of these pieces are upwards of $400

For this reason, I have tons of hair pieces we can play with at the trial.

Veil: You are absolutely more than welcome to bring your own buttttt I bought a few so you don't have to run the risk of taking it out of its beautifully not wrinkled shape.

For the trial day, your attire matters. I know it sounds crazy but wearing a dark shirt or a distracting pattern does not help visualize the style. If your dress has an intricate neckline - find a shirt that mimics the neckline. Mimicking the neckline is a great help but I completely understand how difficult that could be. Anything light or white is very helpful. Wal-mart has tank tops for $4, you can absolutely get a top without breaking the bank.

PS: Their $4 tanks are my favorite.... I guess thats a sign of aging, liking the clothes from wal-mart.

Another frequent question I get, should hair and makeup trials be done together?

Is it necessary - not really.... is great when it works out - absolutely!

If you are trying to book these appointments together between April - November it may be a bit difficult. Every season on Long Island is beautiful and great for weddings so it is hard to say when it will work best.

It's worth a shot but if it doesn't work out, I wouldn't stress out.

I will say, having some Mascara on is really all you need... Maybe eyebrows if you're feeling fancy.

One last VERY important thing....

No unexpected haircuts! If you do not have a stylist you have been going to for years and understands you, knows what you like - don't do it.

I will gladly trim your hair. If they so happen to take off an extra 4 inches it could really mess us up.

We place a lot of value on this time together. Our goal is for every bride to leave their trial feeling fully confident in both the style we chose and in our ability to deliver on the big day.

We’re here to make sure you feel heard, supported, and beautiful!

This appointment is all about discovering what makes you feel like the best version of yourself — and bringing that vision to life.
